Final Fantasy XIII to Ship on Three Disks for 360

This is Important News

If you were planning on buying the Xbox 360 edition of Final Fantasy XIII there has been a development that might be worth paying attention to. Rental website Gamefly, best known for still not shipping me my copy of A Boy and His Blob, has added the following tidbit of information to their description of Square's upcoming RPG: "NOTE: This is a three disc game, but it only counts as one disc against your rental plan." In other words, there will be two times that you'll need to get up and change the disk when playing the Xbox 360 version of the game. This, when compared to the PlayStation 3 version, shows a 300% increase on disks that will ship with the game, meaning gamers will get much, much more for their money if they buy it for the Xbox.

Sure, it could be argued that the act of standing up and changing a disk is terrible and, for lack of a better phrase, last gen, but few would defend the PlayStation 3 version's flaw of only being on one disk. Still unconvinced? Let's look at the facts:

  • Final Fantasy VII is the best game ever.
  • Final Fantasy VII shipped on three discs.
  • Final Fantasy XIII is going to ship on three discs.

If you follow this logic, and if you're able to read and function I assume you do, than it means one thing:

  • Final Fantasy XIII is going to be the best game ever.

I know what you're thinking, "But Coop! Correlation does not imply causation!" And to that, of course, I say, "Shut the hell up, some people want to make fun of the Xbox for having a DVD drive." I think we can all agree on that.

Wait, what were we talking about? Oh, right, nonsense. Does this (the disks) really change anyone's mind? I think, for the most part, people buying the Xbox version are mainly doing it for achievements and system preference, since the PS3 is undeniably the lead SKU. Does multiple disks really shift your opinion of a game?

Three discs? BULLSHIT. Who can forget the seconds of my life WASTED from changing discs for FFVII, VIII, and IX, not to mention freaking Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey. I'm throwing my 360 out the window. Never again!

Final Fantasy has been synonymous with only Sony and Nintendo. Although SquareEnix has been publishing titles on the XBox360 they, I believe, were just doing it for the money (as anyone would). Oh yeah! The best part about this title, other than being the best game ever, is that on its native console it only requires a single disc. That's right! A single disc!

Suck on it Microsoft fanboys (and fangirls)! Enjoy!

I solved this problem by buying 2 more xbox 360s and rewiring them to switch video inputs when the "change disk" dialog box pops up. And since all three will be sharing the same harddrive and running concurrently, there should only be a .00035 second delay for my TV's inputs to refresh.

    Game. Set. Match.
