TF2 WAR: The Demoman Rolls for Initiative
Solves Age Old Scottish Riddle
by Coop

Day two of Team Fortress 2's WAR update is underway, and the numbers are starting to even out. While the Soldiers are still ahead, the gap is lessened, with only 200k separating the classes. This may sound like a lot, but considering there have been nearly 10,000,000 casualties so far, the number isn't really all that high. Today, Valve woke up nice and early to reveal the first two weapons for the Demoman class, which should come as a pleasant surprise to anyone expecting a new grenade launcher or something lame like that. The first is a sword, called the Eyelander, which will replace his melee weapon. The cost of this powerful weapon is a decrease in health and a lack of critical hit, which is compensated for by a speed and health boost. Of course, being Valve, the lacking critical is for a reason.
The Eyelander is best used when bundled with The Chargin’ Targe, a shield that has a nice synergy with the sword, and provides 50% fire resistance and 65% blast damage resistance to boot. It also unlocks a charge ability, as the name suggests, that throws the Demoman across the field of battle and bashes the opponent for massive damage. If used with the Eyelander, as it will likely be, the sword can score powerful critical hits.
I suppose, in a way, it's actually pretty fitting considering the first was crafting. Maybe the next will be a new type of Grog or a powerful D20. Tomorrow, expect to see two new weapons added, likely for the soldier, and if today is any indication we should expect the unexpected. And by that, of course, I mean grenades. Come on, please?

With the Eyelander and Targe that found RPG related-scripting found in the code a few years back doesn't seem so far fetched now.
