Gamervision's 2nd Annual Summer Solstice GH Tournament Recap!
A Rocking Time

Hundreds of spectators both present and watching online, thirty-two competitors fighting for amazing prizes, one Guitar Hero.
On Saturday night at the Kimmel Center’s Summer Solstice celebration Gamervision hosted it’s Second Annual Guitar Hero Tournament. Last year we packed a basement with rockers fighting for a few dollars while playing Guitar Hero II. This year, everything was turned up to 11, as we rocked out to Guitar Hero III in Verizon Hall and raised a lot of money for Child’s Play Charity.
In case you weren’t there, either in physical form or virtually via the Ustream chat room, here is a basic rundown of what you missed: there were glow necklaces, there were slap bracelets, there were raffles, there was great music, there was a giant auditorium, and of course, there was an immense amount of fun.
Some people who couldn’t make it to the event (like C-Dew and HorrayForRobots) watched the video live, seeing exclusive interviews with some of the players and getting to witness the rockage from the comfort of their home.
The tournament was fierce and close. Competitors sat in the auditorium practicing with air guitars, or, as in the case of the night’s winner, their own guitar. The third place scores were separated by a mere 6000 points, but ultimately the Nintendo DS prize pack was claimed by Jason Stockdale.
But the night’s big battle was an epic finale, set to “Cliffs of Dover”. And in the end Alex Tall defeated Julian to claim the prize of Guitar Hero, and left with four tickets to wherever the heck he wants courtesy of American Airlines. Julian didn’t leave empty handed, of course, as he walked away with a Nintendo Wii prize pack!
We would like to thank the Kimmel Center, the guys over at Ustream, Child’s Play Charity, everyone who donated and all of the people who came to the event and watched it live. It was a great time, and next year’s will be even better.

giving someone a wii was one of the coolest things i've done for a while.
My favorite part was the two kids at my station who had to play on Hard for their first time ever, the ding for every note they missed and the one saying "OMG I'm winning!" over and over again.
All in all... highlight of my summer thus far.

It looked really fun and I wish that I could have been out there. I know that not much money was raised online for the Child's Play charity, but how much was raised there at the event?
Big ups to everyone that competed, because I play drums on Rock Band and suck at guitar. Watch out next year cause I'm going to own on the l33t drum set that Guitar 4 comes with!!
Julian is my hero, I wish I was more like him.
