Thought God of War III was the end of the God of War series? Think again. Despite prior claims that it would finish off the franchise that David Jaffe started, it doesn't look like we're going to be done seeing GoW games anytime soon. In a recent interview with Gamervision, John Hight, director of product development for God of War III, discussed the future of the series. "This is not the end of God of War," Hight said. "This is definitely the end of the trilogy, but we're going to continue to do God of War games. We're going to be very careful about what we do, we're the keepers of the franchise, and we don't want to see it ruined or polluted."

To me, that sounds like we'll likely see another prequel (maybe, again, on the PSP), or maybe even a tale with a new protagonist. While God of War has always been about Kratos, seeing as he is, indeed, the God of War, it wouldn't be too crazy to give a new characters the Chains of Olympus. Hell, maybe they could go back a few years and tell some stories that are more grounded in Greek mythology, I doubt I'm the only one who would like to see that. God of War could just be a brand name for that engine and setting - really, anything set in that universe would be worth playing.

What do you think? I, personally, want God of War III's ending to be as epic as possible, and Kratos needs to let nothing live in order for that to happen. Though, I'm sure there's some way to have more GoW goodness in the future, especially considering how fantastic III looks.
