God of War III Ultimate Edition Announced
And There Goes $100
by Coop
Well, this will make for a good Collector's Edition Show. Sony has announced the God of War III Ultimate Edition, which comes with a handful of stuff and might be worth pre-ordering right now. Besides coming with what might be the best game of 2010, it will ship with Pandora's freaking Box. The real one, too, full of evil and hate. It also comes with other stuff, listed below:
Exclusive Collectibles
• High-End Sculpted Replica of Pandora’s Box
• Limited-Edition God of War Art Book featuring exclusive art, content and interviewsExclusive Digital Content (Available via PlayStation Network voucher codes on day of launch)
• God of War Combat Arena containing an exclusive environment and seven challenges
• Premium Kratos Skin – Dominus
• God of War: Unearthing the Legend Franchise Documentary – a full-length movie documentary depicting the history of the God of War franchise
• God of War Trilogy Soundtrack – God of War, II, and III scores from the game (mp3 digital download).• God of War: Blood and Metal EP – a heavy metal homage featuring original music inspired by God of War (mp3 digital download).
Blood and Metal EP? Awesome. There aren't details, but I'm sure it's going to rock hard. That should be more than enough to send you to pre-order it immediately, right? Well, there are a number of other factors: the cost, and the pre-order bonuses. Let's just say the cost is much less than you would think, and you might need to think a bit when it comes to deciding where to put down your $5.
For your own little slice of Pandora's Box it's only going to cost $100. At first, I thought it was going to be at least $120 or $160, since publishers have been raising the costs of Collector's Edition games more and more (and that's NOT counting the $3,000 Fortune Hunter's Edition). If you're anything like me, you're going to rush out of work and pretend to have a migraine so you can go to pre-order this right freaking now. You get the E3 God of War demo if you do, so there's more incentive, as if it was needed.
The last bit is a little confusing. Read the quote, and see if you get more out of it than I did:
But it keeps getting better for the fans. Those that pre-order God of War III at select retailers will receive a voucher code for first access to download the God of War III E3 2009 Demo starting today, plus you will receive an exclusive downloadable skin from the following retailers: Amazon, GameCrazy and GameStop.

Does that mean there will be different skins depending on where it's pre-ordered? I don't know, but that's not going to stop me from putting money down now. Worse case scenario I'll just buy three copies, right?

consider this boughted.
Well there's $100 I'll never see again.
My first thought was I'm totally buying this but I tend not to value these things so I'm not sure. I'm buying GOW: Collector's so that gives me demo access. Is the rest worth $40 to me? Ugh...I was seriously considering DJ Hero too. There's no way the wife is going to let me get both of these...
well dj hero is at least out this year. you've got til next march to save up for this thing.
This definitely looks awesome. I just hope the box isn't made of cardboard.
awesome is right!!!
