Gran Turismo 5 Pushed to November?

Rumor: PS3's Racer Sees Delay

by Coop

UPDATE: SCEA contacted Gamervision with the following: "Just wanted to let you know that SCEA has not announced any release date for GT5 to this point, so the date noted on the GameStop site is in error"

Sony's racing series, Gran Turismo, is one of their biggest names when it comes to exclusive software. Besides being one of the highest selling franchises of all time, it's also a huge console seller, as was apparent when the developer released a prologue to their full title to quench the thirst of fans who were eagerly awaiting the 5th installment. As of now, it's "officially" slated for a Summer 2010 release, but it appears as though that might have changed, and the game may be blowing past that date and skidding to a stop a few months later to expected, sometime in November.

Gamestop's database is far from perfect, but it is usually correct when it comes to reporting delays, as was apparent when they updated EyePet's release date a few months back (which was later confirmed by Sony). On that same note, there's really no reason for Sony to push out GT if it's not completely ready, since Forza has already been out for a few months, and there's really no competition at any point in the year for a realistic racing game. Currently, the release date in Gamestop's Computers puts it in November, which is the same time EyePet is currently slated for release (according to the same list), and would set it as one of the larger holiday releases. We've contacted Sony for official confirmation, and will be sure to report back as soon as we hear from them.

To be honest, I haven't been as interested in realistic (or any) racing games recently. But if I wanted one, Forza would suffice, so a delay to GT5 isn't all that heartbreaking.
