If the image below is to believed, the second weekend in March is going to be an all out assault to gamers’ wallets. In a recent  advertisement by electronics chain Micro Center has dated Grand Theft Auto IV as being released on March, 2008. This sets it just one day before the recently delayed Super Smash Brothers Brawl, and a full six months from its original release date.  

The image above is the only confirmation for the news, as Rockstar is declining to comment beyond reminding us that they have slated the game for a Quarter 2 release. A March release doesn't go against that, but it does go against the previous thought that the game would likely be pushed back another eight months. Rockstar has yet to show any in-game footage or screenshots of the HUD or anything of the type. The company is known for keeping secrets, but one would think that if the game were nearing release they would throw the industry a bone and show off what the game can do.

Setting the near Smash Brothers is an interesting move. Odds are these dates aren't at all connected, but who can tell what is going on with the industry at this point. Darth Vader and Yoda are in Soulcalibur, Snake and Sonic are in Super Smash Brothers, maybe some Grand Theft Auto icon will find themselves in Brawl. Let the photoshops begin!
