When Bungie said a few weeks ago that details involving online co-op were still in the works, the worst was assumed. I will not lie, I was a one of the people who believed "If it doesn’t have online co-op I may not buy it." Now I don’t need to worry about that and I can actually say for the first time I am excited for Halo 3. "That is correct – up to four player co-op in Campaign mode on Xbox Live or System Link." This news not only made sure I would be at any midnight opening my local Gamestop might have, but also that I would be playing it for reasons other than to review it. Four player co-op wasn’t even rumored for this game – now it is confirmed. This does bring up one issue that I am sure some of you are vexing over as I write this: who will the other players play as? Well, to some dismay, it is the Arbiter and two other members of the Covenant. I am not troubled by this, as I personally think Halo’s plot is shitty as is and playing as someone who isn’t Master Chief only bothered me in Halo 2 because of it not being tied in to the Chief himself. It being a part of the actual game is not worth complaining over. Not only that but another thing I made fun of Bungie for has been put to rest. Recently they released an image of Master Chief and said it had been cropped because it would reveal a secret it shown in full. No one bought it, but now we eat it. I see what they did there. With a fan base as large as Halo’s and a user base as large as Xbox Live who will actually play this game single player? Source
