Heavenly Sword Writer to Pen Mirror’s Edge Script
Hopefully She Has More than 3 Hours in Her

DICE has announced that Rhianna Pratchett, scriptwriter for Overlord and Heavenly Sword, has been brought on board Mirror’s Edge to handle scriptwriting duties for the game. The plot follows information runner Faith as she traverses building tops in a hyper-realistic future, dodging totalitarian government agents and gravity as she attempts to clear her incarcerated sisters name. Gripping, I know.
“It was a great experience working with the team at DICE to help breathe life into Faith; her world, relationships and backstory,” said Rhianna Pratchett. “My heroines and heroes have always been the ones who were ordinary, but through the events of a story, became extraordinary. Faith is skilled, but she's certainly not a superhero. She has her flaws, like all of us. In short: she's real. That's her appeal.”
I have always appreciated the value of good writing in videogames, but sadly there aren’t enough companies that seem to agree. Heavenly Sword, albeit nauseatingly short, had some fantastic writing, bringing the characters to life in their minimal screen time. My home is that Pratchett is able to continue that excellence in Mirror’s Edge, bringing the beautiful world to life. Oh, and here is the gameplay trailer, since it's awesome.

I wasn't looking forward to this at all until I saw the gameplay footage. I'm still not sure how it'll play, but damn if it doesn't look cool.
