Hellgate: London Servers Shutting Down
The Hellgate Finally Closes
by Coop

Namco Bandai has announced that Flagship Studios' Hellgate: London will have its servers closed in Feburary of 2009. The game was met with lukewarm reviews when it launched about a year ago, and its fan base has been dwindling ever since. Most of the problems with the game were never addressed, and when Flagship Studios closed a few months back it was assumed that Hellgate would close soon after. For the next few months, fans can enjoy free online play and continued support for the title, but I wouldn’t expect much in ways of content between now and the inevitable closing.
I've always been interested in the game, but never made the plunge and tried it out. Has anyone given it a try? I'd like to know if there are enough fans to justify getting upset about another MMO closing.

I don't think this technically qualifies as an MMO, does it? I thought it was more like Diablo. I remember playing the demo and thinking it was terrible, if that helps.
This one seemed to have potential when it was getting ready to launch, but I guess in a WoW-ruled world it's hard to make a mark as an MMO.
never had time to give this a shot, was too busy with WoW at the time
My buddy Jake played it at the Philly Videogame Con. and he really liked it, but never got around to picking it up and playing it after that. He still talks about getting it every once in a while, but now I guess it's pointless. Lame.
Also, I personally saw nothing of interest in it, but Im not a MMO kinda guy.
