I have a feeling that Ward isn't too happy that Treyarch was put back into the seat to develop Call of Duty: World at War. It's sort of lose-lose, if the game is great, people talk about how good of a job they did with it, and if it sucks average consumers (who don't understand the difference between developers) will forget the leaps Infinity Ward worked so hard to take. It's no wonder that Robert Bowling, Director of Communications for Infinity Ward, recently lost his freaking mind.

On his blog, IAMfourzerotwo, he came out against Noah Heller, who is running promotion for World at War for Activision. He mainly took issue with the below quote:

“In the previous Call of Dutys it might take three or four shots from a bolt action rifle,” he explained. “We made sure that a single shot centre mass would kill that opponent because that’s the expectation of the player.”

See, this isn't true, because Call of Duty 4 had bolt-action rifles that were one hit kills. The problem is, according to Bowling, that Noah Heller doesn't work with the developers, just the publisher, and is talking out of his ass. There is definitely some misdirected anger, especially since he takes a quick shot at World at War a little later in his post ("A rule of thumb I like to use is…. when promoting your game. Promote YOUR game. Don’t compare it to another game, or reference what OTHER games did in the past, pitch YOUR game. I mean, you have lots of cool things you could talk about… like Nazi Zombies…"), so I hope more comes out. I imagine there is some nice drama behind the scenes here that is just begging for an exposé.
