Intelligate: Next Tony Hawk to Use Skateboard Peripheral

No, Not the Wii Balance Board

by Coop

Another leak in the Intellisponse-polling-website-hacking debacle is Tony Hawk’s Adrenaline, the next Tony Hawk title for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Unlike previous games, this one will have you using a skateboard controller to complete different actions. As Gamervision reported a few weeks back, Activision has gone back to the drawing board and was trying to think of ways to reinvigorate the falling franchise, which has been outsold by skate. 2:1. Apparently their idea was a balance board for the hi-def systems of the generation. My guess is that the logic behind this is as follows:

  1. People don’t like Tony Hawk because skate was better at doing what Tony Hawk does.
  2. People like Rock Band and Guitar Hero because of the tangible experience.
  3. People like Wii Fit because it has people being active.
  4. People will like Tony Hawk if it does something new, using a tangible, active peripheral.

I should get a medal for following Activision’s train of thought. While I do agree that the Tony Hawk franchise died the day skate. came out, I’m not sure if this is the right path. There is room in the industry for two skating games, and Tony Hawk was made famouse for being unrealistic. I would love to see the franchise actually take advantage of that and go wild, delivering an even more over-the-top, SSX Tricky style game that has hoverboards and clowns and shit. Come on, guys, you aren’t going to beat skate. at its own game, do something different!

Website Intellisponse, which appears to be a polling company, has been cracked in half and spilt onto the internet. It appears they did work for Activision and Microsoft, and now all of that juicy information has been revealed by Neogaf. - this is Intelligate.

Great! Now I can play a game where i can use my real life skating abilities in the game.

Oh wait, I suck at skateboarding! That's why I bought tony hawk's pro skater almost a decade ago. So I could do impossible tricks (including but not limited to the "frontside-shove-it-impossible". Guess I'm back at square one....
