The old “Microsoft working on a Mii replacement” rumor now has some backing, thanks to Intellisponse's website being hacked for information. Laying somewhere in-between Sony’s Home and Nintendo’s Miis is Microsoft’s newly leaked “Avatars,” pictured above. These characters can be customized with "hundreds" of different outfits and can be used in "many" Xbox Live Arcade games. If the image above is accurate I am fairly excited for these, more so than any upgrades to Miis that Nintendo isn’t going to make and more than Home, since they can be used in games and not just to blow bubbles and dance.

The art style is nice and while I don’t see these finding themselves in any retail games (save for maybe another Scene It! title or Raymans Raving Rabbids) I would be excited to use the characters in Xbox Live Arcade games. Xbox360Fanboy notes that one of the characters looks to be wearing a t-shirt from The Incredibles, which makes me wonder if they plan on having licensed products or, more likely, microtransactioning the SHIT out of this idea.
