iPhone Catan Coming

The Settlers of Catan was a surprise hit when it came out on the Xbox Live Arcade. Board game fans flooded out of everywhere and picked up the title, enjoying the online version of their favorite Manifest Destiny simulation. On the game's official website, it has been announced that Catan will be coming out for the iPhone this summer, developed by Exozet Games.
There are no screenshots (save for my expertly photoshopped work above) or additional information beyond that little tease. In all honesty, I'm not too sure why everyone is getting so excited about this. Catan is fun, there's no doubt about that, but it's a game with a heavy focus on multiplayer. The reason Xbox Live's version worked so well was thanks to the online integration - something that will likely be missing from this port. Besides workers using bluetooth to play a game of Catan from within cubicles, the audience for this isn't really that big - it's like Risk coming to the iPhone. Sure, it's cool and all, but it misses the point entirely.

Wow there are some great news here as I see. What a shame that I have missed these news in July, but it is better later then never huh? I was playing The Settlers of Catan on my Xbox for few months and it was hard for me to stop doing that because of my job. Now I will be able to play it even at my job! (Of course only in the breaks). iPhone rules, and it will rule forever. Thanks for the great article and I will be waiting for more nice ones from you in the nearest future.

Yeah, "The Settlers of Catan" is a fun game. I've played it a lot on my Xbox, should be fun to play on iPhone too. But it's a very long game. Not sure if people would like to play this on their iPhone for at least 1hour? Only if it doesn't totally drain the iPhone's battery. Great review, thanks for sharing it.
