Jeff Gordon Covers Nascar 09
Racing Star to Lend his Face and Voice
by Coop

Electronic Arts has announced that racing legend Jeff Gordon will grace the cover of Nascar 09. They also use the term "athlete" to describe him, which should lend more support to the "Games as a Sport" debate. Gordon being the cover star should come as no surprise, seeing as he is actually the only Nascar racer as far as I know. I mean, I am no racing expert, but his name is the only one ever brought up in any conversation about the sport. If anyone has any proof to contradict this claim I would love to hear it, but as of now it is a fact.
Changes in this edition include an enhanced handling system which aims to make it more accessible for beginners while also enhancing the play for advanced players. Jeff Gordon will also lend his voice to the games career mode.
I have never gotten into Nascar, mainly because I don’t see the point of the sport. While watching it might be fun, playing the games must be torture. We get it, you turn left. Can’t someone throw cones or something onto the track to spice it up? Nothing against the people who love it, all nineteen trillion of them, it just isn’t my cup of tea. Unless they plan on throwing a wrench in the works and really experimenting I am going to sit this one out. The full press release is below."Gordon's prestigious reputation aligns with the new NASCAR 09 career mode, "Sprint for the Cup." Gordon will bring the game to you as a guide and a mentor to help you build your reputation to become the next NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion."

The teaser for this article should have been HATER ALERT! NASCAR is the biggest money-making sport in the world. Drivers are absolutely athletes- driving a four-speed car at close to 200mph for up to five hours at a time on a three-lane road with 50 other drivers is about as physically demanding, grueling and exhausting as 60 minutes of football, if not moreso.
I don't consider myself a fan of NASCAR, but asking for cones in a NASCAR game is like telling EA to add turtle shells to the next Madden game...
Having actually been to the Miracle Mile in Dover, DE... I can tell you witnessing a NASCAR race live versus on TV makes you realize looking at the picture on the front of a novel does not make you an expert on the contents within.
Hopefully this year is the year they make a game as good as NASCAR Thunder. Last year's promise of online racing was a complete 10 car joke. And hopefully, there'a way to turn off Jeff Gordon's voice. Can't stand the Rainbow Warrior. GO TONY STEWART!
I don't mean I want cones in a Nascar game, I want cones thrown wildly onto the track in Nascar. Sorry for any misunderstanding.
