Jumpgate Evolution Delayed
Pushed Until Light Speed's Discovery
by Coop

Just two weeks ago I said "if Jumpgate Evolution doesn't see a summer release expect to find my feet dangling above a broken stool by August."
Well, it's time to find a rope.
On their official forums, one of the developers of the game has announced that their upcoming (hopefully) MMORPG, Jumpgate Evolution, will not be making its June release. Instead, they plan on widening the testing base, hoping to fix some of the game's issues and polish the experience before releasing the title. This marks the second summer MMO that has been pushed back, the first being Champions Online, which was delayed for similar reasons.
This is obviously very sad news. Jumpgate looked like one of the most promising MMOs to be in development, and every minute it isn't on store shelves is a travesty. Hopefully the testing (invite me) goes well (please), and the beta period (seriously) fixes many of the issues (I want to help) that had the game get delayed (I'm sad) in the first place.
Anyone else saddened by this news? What other MMOs still have summer release dates?

Damn, that's rough. After the interview video of this I was really intrigued. They have some awesome ideas and the dude seemed super cool.
Do you think this is a sign of bad fortune for the company, or seriously just an attempt to polish the game?
I'm okay with this. As long as it improves the final product, I can live with the delay. I'm not happy about it, but I can live with it.
You're not alone. I wanted to have it, too!
Yeah, before this year, delays meant that the game needed another layer of polish or beta fixes. But now, with the recession, a delay could easily mean, "we can't afford to finish this, a we might never be able to."
Hope it's the former.
