While being questioned about the possibility Guitar Hero: Metallica, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich (not to be confused with Skeet Ulrich or Lars Lang) said the following:

"... if somebody's gonna follow [GH: Aerosmith] up ... we're talking, and its exciting, and the people at Guitar Hero and Activision are rapidly becoming our best new friends in the world. You can put the rest of it together yourself."
If you don’t feel like reading the above quote (or anything the Napster-killer says), I can translate from overprivileged ass to English:

“Yeah, it’s coming out, but I’m not supposed to say anything, so don’t tell anyone, people watching MTV.”

He doesn’t drop any clues as to what form it would take – traditional Guitar Heroism or this newfangled Rock Banding, but my guess is that it will be a strictly string affair. It makes sense for Activision to continue the Guitar Hero brand going with several different surnames, and making sure that they still fill the guitar enthusiasts niche with more traditional rhythm excursions.
