Left 4 Dead Free for Friday

Francis Likely Displeased

by Coop

Fans of the PC version of Left 4 Dead can ignore this article - it doesn't apply to you. Anyone still on the fence, for whatever reason, should pay attention, though, because it involves playing one of the best multiplayer games of 2008 for free. Free! As of 12:01am GMT (which, as we all know, can be any time), L4D will be free on Steam, giving players access to the content that shipped last year as well as the new "Survival Pack" DLC.

Since each of the chapters only takes an hourish, you can use this time to beat the game six or so times over. Actually, playing "Survival," you could likely go through it a few hundred times, because "Survival Mode" is freaking hard. Here's the press release.

L4D FREAKY FREE FRIDAY COMING ON STEAM

Beginning Friday at 12:01 am GMT, the PC version of Left 4 Dead will be available for a free 24-hour trial via Steam. The free trial will include access to the recently released Survival Pack DLC, which introduces a new multiplayer game mode and two additional Versus campaigns. Those who wish to give L4D and the Survival Pack a try may now pre-load everything needed to play with no obligation to purchase.

I'd be interested in seeing the sales numbers for L4D on Steam after this is over. I imagine this will sell some games.

If you haven't bought this yet, you're a fool! Also, I say we all take a day off work tomorrow and have a 24-hour zombie-a-thon.

it would be one thing to actually play this game forever not on a trial basis.
