Lost Planet: Colonies is a Remake
Leaves Gamers Out in the Cold
by Coop

Last week I covered the leaked achievement list of Lost Planet: Colonies, the supposed sequel to the somewhat popular Lost Planet. Well, gamers, it looks like we were had, and it turns out this is just another Capcom remake. Based on a magazine advertisement in some crazy, foreign magazine, Xbox 360 Fanboy was able to deduct the following enhancements to the title:
- New Multiplayer modes, including Humans VS Akrid
- 4 New maps, 2 of which are possibly a city and a desert
- New Female Playable Character
- Ten New weapons
- New Monsters
- Trial Battle and Score Attack modes for the campaign bosses
- 360/PC Cross-platform play
I don’t understand why they are re-releasing this title. The enhancements are all somewhat cosmetic or miniscule with the exception of a new multiplayer mode and some multiplayer changes. It appears that this version will focus on online multiplayer. Not the best move, as it will likely launch around the time of Gears of War 2. Being able to play as the Akrid is a little more interesting than playing as Space Pirates, though.
The idea of 360/PC Cross-platform play would be better if anyone actually played this game on the PC. PC gamers are busy with better shooters that were actually optimized for the system instead of Capcom’s hand-me-downs. No word as of yet if any of these changes will be available for the PC version or if it will get its own edition of the game.
We will keep you posted and are ready to withdraw all of the statements we made today, as usual, when Capcom changes their minds again.

I think I'll skip this one, sorry Lost Planet you lost my interest with the first installment. I believe it's on my game shelf collecting dust.
