MAG Screens Appear on Flickr?

Mysterious Images Show Large Battles

by Coop

A gallery entitled MAG has been making the rounds this weekend. Uploaded by Flickr user 1337guyzorz, it appears to have 28 fairly convincing images of MAG: Massive Action Game, Sony's mysterious project announced at last year's E3. Some shots show large, open areas, others look to be concept art, while a few might actually be showing true gameplay from a first person perspective. The image names are a little more telling, labling the first-person shots as "Fly_Cam," alluding to the fact that it's in-engine, but not in-game.

While they're unofficial, the images certainly look to be legit, and I'd be surprised if this was some sort of elaborate joke (it was uploaded on April 3rd, for anyone who's wondering). The shots are reminicent of Zipper Interaction's Socom series, and the large environments definitely appear to be within the PlayStation 3's long, powerful reach.

It's worth mentioning that the PlayStation Blog uses Flickr to post all of its images, so it isn't like the gallery is out of the question. Though, somehow I doubt Jeff Rubenstien's Flikr account is 1337guyzorz, but I've been wrong before...

We've reached Sony for a comment, but I have a feeling they "don't comment on rumors or speculation," but will update on whether or not this turns out to be true as soon as we have an answer.

These are good looking screens. Yeah, if it's a hoax, it's pretty elaborate.
