In an announcement that should come as a surprise to no one, Capcom has announced that Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 is due for a summer release on the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.

Even bigger news than the return of one of the most beloved fighters of all time is the rundown of features, which actually does manage to surpass what most believed would be available in this edition. The game code will be based off of the Dreamcast version's, which is said to be much tighter than the Xbox and PlayStation 2 ports. It will support HD upscaling and wide screen options as well, doing as much as possible to make us forgive the fact that it isn't getting the HD Remix treatment. Oh, and all 56 characters will be included and unlocked at purchase, without need of completing the game two hundred times to earn every single fighter. If that isn't enough, you'll be happy to know  that we'll be getting a taste of MvC2 sooner than you might think, and a PlayStation Network demo is expected to his later this week, likely with the Thursday PlayStation update.
