Max Payne Trailer Isn't Awful!

"There's an army of bodies under this river..."

If this trailer is any indication, the Max Payne movie may turn out all right. Mark Wahlberg pulls off a convincing Max Payne, and the action looks reminiscent of the game's over-the-top gameplay. Voice-overs seem to work as well, giving a look into the twister, sad mind of a man with nothing to live for. My only hope is that he is popping painkillers nonstop and using quicksaves every few feet, so I can get my exact experience on film.

I am not sure what's going on with the demons they keep showing, though, but it looks like they may be the Angel of Death taking away the souls of those Max kills (especially in that last shot). Again, I’m not too sure, but if those strange creatures are anything more than a metaphor I am walking out of the theatre. I appreciate that they aren't making a cookie-cutter action flick and are taking some risks, and anxiously await more footage.

WOW. this is a movie i was not at all interested in but the trailer looks excellent. i find marky-mark's career path very odd... lots of utter crap interspersed with some very good stuff indeed.

Yeah, this is definitely looking good. I'm with you on those harpy things. They could also be a hallucination of Max's, which would be a welcome replacement of those weird nightmare levels in the first game.
