Mega Man 9's Retroness Ruined With DLC

Remember the days where games were simpler? I do, and so does Capcom. Their nostalgic roller coaster, Mega Man 9, comes out in just a few weeks, and will bring gamers back to the simpler times of level memorization and system limitations. They even mocked up awesome box art, a retro intro movie, and glitches just to further the illusion.
Just in case you were about to run around singing Capcom's praises, here's a bubble burster: they have decided to take a sledgehammer to those ideas now and have announced that there will be downloadable content for the game, costing $2 to unlock a playable Proto Man. He plays much like Mega Man, but with a few extra attacks and a shield. Why isn't he already part of the game? Are they taking extra time to tweak him? No, it will be available a week from launch.
I'm usually fine with DLC in almost any form, but a week after launch for a game built on the idea of retro seems like a slap in the face to supporters of the series. Does anyone else have a problem with this? Will you be picking up the game? The DLC? Neither? I can’t see myself spending the extra money on a character that should be included in the game, but it isn’t a deal breaker for me.

For me this news story never happened. There is no DLC. Resume illusion.
i will be picking up the game, but not picking up the DLC, it should have been included.
I don't know what you're getting so worked up about. It's two bucks. I for one do want to play as Proto Man, and even with the two bucks added on, the game as a whole is still going to be pretty cheap. I didn't see any "modern stuff is ruining it" when the achievements came out earlier.
i dont mind DLC but 2 bucks for a character is something i do not want to pay for.
Yeah, seriously Coop, not a big deal. It is:
1. Completely optional.
2. Very Cheap
3. Indeed 2008, and this is the business model that DLC has been established upon.
I really don't think it is an issue. If I had to pay an extra $5 to fight Dr. Wily and finish the game... then I'd be pissed.
