Microsoft Signs “Perpetual Licensing Agreement”

Microsoft Game Studios and Havok have signed a “perpetual licensing agreement,” which gives MGS unlimited access to the Havok physics engine in perpetuity. This not only assures that they can continue to use the basic form of the engine, but any future incarnations such as Havok Cloth and Havok Destruction.
The full details of the deal haven’t been disclosed, and I’m not sure what could have sparked such an agreement, but it looks like we will be seeing the Havok logo on more Microsoft products in the future. In the past, MS has used the Havok Physics engine on everything from Halo 2 to Scene It!, so they have been buddy-buddy for quite some time now. If they announce anything more on it we will keep you posted.
