I was really, really excited when I heard that the DC Universe would be smashing into the Mortal Kombat Universe for a game. Until they decided to fuck it up. Slowly all of the fun was removed, the blood was toned down, and the fatalities, which still looked awesome, were complete screwed over. Well, the American release, the UK edition will retain all of the fun removed from the US version.

It has to do with a dumb detail that shouldn’t matter – the way the ratings systems work. Apparently “Teen,” the American rating that Midway is shooting going for, means it’s made for 13 -year-olds. The UK rating is 15+, which means they are able to see more gore. They seem to be ignoring the fact that no parents will buy a kid a Mortal Kombat game due to the name, and MK fans will not buy a watered down version of a game they didn’t necessarily want.

What do you think? Should the US get two versions, or should they man up and just put a gunshot in this version, admitting that they game they are making is supposed to be M, or at least push the T rating as far as they can take it.
