Modern Warfare 2 PC Requirements Revealed
Activision's burning every bridge they pass on the way to releasing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for the PC. When they decided upon a price point, they set it $10 higher than the average computer game. When they got to online play, they removed everything that makes it unique by removing dedicated servers (and, most likely, mod support). In other words, when people see "Call of Duty" and "PC" in the same sentence, they expect to be pissed off.
Well, guess what, today isn't one of those days! It's just the system requirements, and the only reason to be pissed off is if you have a shitty computer.
System Requirements
OS: Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 (Windows 95/98/ME/2000 are unsupported)
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 3200+ processor or better supported
Memory: 1 GB RAM
Graphics: 256 MB NVIDIA GeForce 6600GT or better or ATI Radeon 1600XT or better
DirectX: Microsoft DirectX(R) 9.0c
Hard Drive: 12GB of free hard drive space
Sound: 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card
Internet: Broadband connection required for Multiplayer Connectivity. Internet Connection required for activation
Everything is to be expected. Windows 7 is obviously supported (as it was released just one day ago), it needs a nice (but not insane) graphics card, a recent processor (maybe a little newer than "recent") and a little bit of ram (like, barely any). No shocks here, but it's worth checking to make sure your PC is up to snuff.
That is, if you haven't already boycotted it, which you likely have. It's like Activision felt bad for all of the other crappy boycotts and felt like actually giving someone something worth banning. Good work, guys, I'm sure Valve appreciates it.
