Monthly PSN Download Charge?

Sony Asks Asia if They Would Pay

by Coop

On the webpage for the Playstation Store Online in Asia, Sony has an interesting question for gamers:

The store in question is for their PC store, letting you download games and programs to your computer before transferring them over to the PSP/PS3. This wouldn't translate to a charge for the actual store itself - only the unlimited download option.

This would probably be a one time cost for unlimited downloads, an interesting prospect. Not unlike Gametap and the amazing Sega Channel, being able to pay a monthly fee for unlimited plays is a great way to lure people in.

I would consider the cost if there was more to buy, but seeing as there isn’t much there yet and are asking upwards of $50 a month in this poll I might step out. Hopefully the cost drops and there is more to download in the near future – or they drop the idea entirely.

it'd be great if their prices and selection were as reasonable as Gametap, which just isn't a reality this early in the life of the PS3. they may be looking to the future of the system which wouldn't surprise me with the way sony has marketed the PS3 so far.. anyways, i have high hopes :D
