The Spike TV VGA Awards will be starting soon, and the leaks have already begun. A few hours before the first big reveal (which is rumored to be the biggest thing since sliced anything), MTV has posted a trailer for Green Day: Rock Band, which is was posted below. It might was be pulled, so click quickly. If it does, just close your eyes and imagine the same love and care taken with Beatles: Rock Band, except spent on Green Day. There's no information beyond the trailer so far, and the video only shows the song "American Idiot," but one thing is for sure: the Rock Band name will carry much less weight if this turns out to be an excursion as large as The Beatles was.

Listen, don't get me wrong, I loved my cassette tape of Dookie back in the day, and I cried like a bitch when the tape got all ripped up, but... really? Really? Green Day is still important enough for its own game? When the AC/DC track pack was revealed people were shocked that they were big enough for Rock Band, and if Green Day is there are few bands that aren't. After Beatles was revealed, rumors were that the next game would feature a band like The Rolling Stones or Pink Floyd. But Green Day? Really? REALLY? What's next, Rock Band: B52's? Hell, I'd prefer that. At least it would be interesting, there's only so much angst I can handle in a game.
