New iPhone Games on the Horizon

Wake Me Up When It Isn't AT&T Exclusive

by Coop

Apple Computer’s keynote has just ended at the Worldwide Developers Conference and a chunk of the show was dedicated to iPhone Gaming. Below are a few screenshots of the games, which are said to approach and exceed the Nintendo DS’s.  The first one is of a personal favorite title of mine, Super Monkey Ball. I don't remember the names of the rest of the games because I was too busy smashing my head into the wall over the obscenely boring keynote. Wow, medical programs have been ported over the the iPhone, that makes for an interesting speech!

Graphics look nice, but I doubt this will sell any impact on the sales. iPods have had fairly good games for some time now, getting one of the best casual games in years, Peggle, ported over a few months back. If they are really that good I figure you will see a DS port, but color me unexcited. Than again, if they announced the iPhone was the second coming I would still yawn and play with my Windows Mobile phone. Like I have said before, wake me up when I can buy the thing for a Verizon service, for $199 I would snap it up in a second. Until then, feh.

agreed. omfgwtf iphone games! who cares?

then again, I don't really get spending obscene amounts of money on a phone to begin with, so I guess I'm not really the best judge.

I remember playing that caveman-esque game on the old iMacs they used to have (the ones with the handles on them), or something like it. Really though, I don't see this panning out very well anyway, so who cares?

Games look pretty nice, and at that price it's a freakin steal. i'd say you'll never get an iPhone on Verizon tho. Unless Verizon switches to a GSM network like all the other countries whose networks will be supported (which would cost hundreds of billions of dollars) it's not gonna happen. With the decreased price you could end your contract early and pay the termination fee on it :)
