No Nintendo Price Cuts in '08
"I don't think we are going to need them.”

Nintendo President Saturo Iwata has said in an interview with Reuters that a price drop is not needed for the Nintendo DS or Wii. “Our earnings projection for the year is not based on hardware price cuts, and I don't think we are going to need them.” This news should come as a surprise to no one, as the Wii and DS are still putting up embarrassingly good numbers on a consistent basis.
I doubt we will see any video game console price cuts this year. The PlayStation Portable is riding high off of God of War and Crisis Core purchases, the PlayStation 3 has Metal Gear Solid 4 and Resistance 2 coming later in the year, and the Xbox 360 is looking at Gears of War 2, Too Human, Fable 2, and a dozen other AAA titles in its 2008 line-up. Microsoft is making a profit for the first time since the early 90’s, Nintendo continues to raise its projected profit for the year with more record breaking sales, and Sony systems sales are up over 100%, so why would they?

This isn't at all surprising, I don't know why anyone thought Nintendo would cut prices just for the hell of it when their systems are still flying off store shelves. The DS Lite is almost 2 years old now and people still can't get enough of it.
It would be real stupid if they did. They outsell all other consoles they don't need to.
