No Portal in 2008
I’m Making a Note Here: Crap

"In typical Valve tradition, it won't be Portal with different colours," said Lombardi in an interview with Eurogamer. Today, Valve has confirmed that while Portal 2 is in development, we will not see it in 2008. Gamers hoping to get more Portal this year will have to just replay the original version or buy the PC edition and download one of the many custom maps available. But why not release it in 2008, Doug?
"I think that when you hit something like that, you have two choices: you can quickly replicate it and stick it out there - do the opportunistic thing and cash in on it - or you can do the crazy thing like we did after Half-Life was so successful and go off and try and say, 'Okay, that was revolutionary, so its successor has to be equally as revolutionary.'"
Their reasoning makes sense in a way, I don’t like it when companied just throw a “2” on the end of a title and re-release it as a sequel. Half-Life 2 was fantastic example of what Valve can do with a few years, and I would love to see Portal given a similar treatment. However, Doug ignores the fact that there was an expansion to the original Half-Life nearly every year. Portal was only a few hours long too, so I think that all we really need. I’m not saying I want a remake of Portal with a few extra levels, just throw a “Lost Levels” package with a few new maps, gamers would eat it up.

The end of that episode was way too sad. Still one of my favourites, though. "PROFESSOR! LAVA! HOT!!!"
Portal was short, yes, but that was all it needed, really. I totally agree that they shouldn't just make more levels and call it Portal 2. Perhaps a different setting, maybe GLaDOS 2.0?
I don't mind waiting if it's worth it. And it will be.
sad.
Oddly enough, I have yet to play this gem of a game.... yes... I deserve death... but hey! I got Persona 3:FES! *runs aways*
Awe man. Upsetting but hopeful.
Man I hope they keep they same writers on board. I've never played a game before this where i purposefully took my time on each level to make sure I heard all the AI chatter...
