Pandemic Gets Battlefront 3?

You're My Only Hope

by Coop

The internet was set ablaze last week over leaked footage (above) and information of Free Radical's Star Wars: Battlefront III, which was supposedly shipped off to Rebellion, developers of Battlefront: Renegade Squadron for the PSP. New rumors speculate that this isn't the case, and while obviously not staying with recently closed Free Radical, the game may lay in series creator's Pandemic's somewhat-capable hands.

Free Radical's version had a lot to brag about, ranging from an apparently plot involving Obi-Wan's dark side, to technology that would allow for massive, epic battles from the ground to space. It isn't know how much of this will actually make the jump, and some have said that Free Radical, although closing down, still owns the rights to some of these ideas. Some of what makes the footage above is being able to jump into an X-Wing, fly into space, board a Star Destroyer and start fighting, and without that I'm not sure if the game's worth keeping, especially with the amount of time wasted and lost on that concept.

Hopefully Pandemic is able to rekindle the fire that burnt so brightly in the original two games, and maybe their lack of Star Wars is what kept their recent titles from recapturing the luster of their past excursions - the last thing we need is Battlefront III to feel like Mercenaries 2.

Yeah, I DON'T want Battlefront III to play like Mercenaries 2, that would make me really sad. I just want to have as much fun playing Battlefront III as I did Battlefront II. Hope that actually happens.
