Phoenix Wright WiiWare's Court Date: Monday

No Objections Here

by Coop

The WiiWare port of one of the most popular Nintendo DS titles, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, was known to be scheduled for a January release. What we didn't know, on the other hand, was a date or price, two facts that have been submitted as evidence by Capcom today. The official release will be Monday, January 11, 2010, which, in case you don't know, is this upcoming Monday. The cost? 1,000 Wii Points, which comes out to $10 in real world money. Since the DS version has slowly become harder and harder to find, skyrocketing prices to over $100 in some shops (and a bit less if you're able to find it elsewhere), the asking price is hardly worth arguing about. Sure, it's a few years old, but come on, it's still a better deal than Xbox Originals.

While not entirely necessary, the addition of silly motion controls might actually add to the experience. One of the most iconic aspects of the original, yelling "Objection!" and pointing angrily, could use a more tangible feel - something granted to the title by the Wii's controller. Beyond that, I'm anxious to see what other changes Capcom has made to the title, since I'm sure they've learned from the game's sequels enough to patch up a few of the issues that people might have had. For those who haven't played the original, this looks like as good of a time as any to jump on, and be sure to check back soon for more information on the legal drama that is Phoenix Wright.
