Prince of Persia Movie Trailer is All Kinds of Awesome
Will Bruckheimer Legitimize Game Movies?
by Coop

The first trailer for Jerry Bruckheimer’s Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time movie has been released, and, well, it looks fantastic. I know, I know, I said the same thing about the Max Payne trailer, but this one manages to be exciting looking without using Marylyn Manson music, and that’s really hard to do.
Everything just… fits. The characters all look their part (for as much as Jake Gyllenhaal can look like a Persian prince), Ben Kingsley looks imposing, Gemma Arterton is violently attractive, and the setting really appears to capture what makes Prince of Persia so unique: sand. The video is below.
Not that there was any question, but the special effects also look fantastic. I’m really happy to see Disney throw this movie the budget it needs to succeed. It’s like they’re treating this film as the next Pirates of the Caribbean, and that should mean they aren’t going to let it suck too much.
What do you think? It looks like it has the potential to finally blow gaming films out of the rut they've been in ever since... ever. With few exceptions, every gaming movie has been awful, topping out at "Good for a movie based on a game." If this turns that around, be prepared for video game adaptations to be in 2010+ what comic book adaptations were in 2000+. Hopefully.

I'm going to wait until I see it before I start dropping "Greatest Video Game Movie Ever." Trailers can be deceiving... I'm looking at you Spiderman 3 and Phantom Menace.
I'm not gonna lie, this does look really good. I was highly disappointed with Max Payne, but hopefully this movie is actually good.
oh gemma arterton i don't even care that you're not middle eastern, you're still unbelievably hot.
Looks infinitely better than I thought it could. I'll stay on the sidelines with Nick and hold out before getting too gooey, but yeah, looks like it could actually be halfway decent.
Also: Disney still uses myspace?
Gorgeous trailer, but I was sick of Gemma Arterton's heavy-handed plot summary at around the one minute mark.
I'm surprised; Prince of England...I mean Persia, looks pretty good.
