Retro Game Ad Sunday: Mortal Kombat II
Or: MortalIIKombat, as the Logo Suggests

Happy Sunday everyone! Welcome to a new weekly feature called "Retro Game Ad Sunday." I think it pretty much speaks for itself, but if not, here's the pitch: we scanned in a bunch of old advertisements from Gamepros, Nintendo Powers, and other magazines of yesteryear. Since they're usually pretty funny and corny, we figured we'd share them with everyone. Why Sunday? Why not!
Don't you love game ads for things that never took off? Maybe the reason the 32X died a horrible, swift death was because it simply wasn't prepared for Mortal Kombat II. That would explain a lot.
On a more timely note: Black Friday is dead! Long live Cyber Monday! In a few hours, web retailers, hot off of showing brick-and-mortar sales how Black Friday is done (yay new TV and a bunch of games), will be putting up even more deals for the unfortunately named "Cyber Monday," so expect great deals on stuff you don't want or need. How was everyone's thanksgiving? I retreated away from the crowd from time to time for some Madden 10 Arcade, which I'm loving, and played more Torchlight. Of course, Modern Warfare 2 came into play from time to time, but that's like breathing at this point.

i had a 32X.
Nothing can prepare your 32X... from falling off the face of the Earth.
Why did they ever do away with Friendships? Midway might still be around if they hadn't...
00.19: so did I.
I loved how MKII would pause to load every time you wanted to morph Shang Tsung.
I'd make my friends sit through an excruciatingly long FINISH HIM! where I'd perform the morph glitch and cycle through every single character.
