What happens when porn stars and strippers play Dungeons & Dragons? As it turns out, the same thing that happens when the rest of us do. Hold on to your butts, folks, it’s a review of I Hit It With My Axe: Episode One: Meet the Party.

On The Escapist’s website, the series is officially described as “D&D. With Strippers and Porn Stars. On Video.” That description sums it up fairly well. What started as a blog has become a full-blown webseries, and the first webisode aired today. Being the first episode, it really only needed to do one thing: make me want to watch a second. In that, it was a success. Basic introductions to Kimberly Kane, Zak Sabbath, Mandy Morbid, Satine Phoenix, Connie, Frankie, and guest star Sasha Grey were given. The motley crew of porn stars, strippers, and hair dressers make up, as expected, a fairly good looking bunch of players, which is undoubtably the immediate draw for a lot of people.

The problem is, for as interesting as the concept might, there are a few issues with the execution. The six-minute episode simply isn’t long enough to completely explain what is going on, which means a lot of random cuts to interactions never fully fleshed out. When they do stop jumping around from scene to scene for a moment it’s genuinely interesting, and hearing a group of adult stars debate how to escape a situation is simply funny, proving the concept’s value entirely. It feels as though if the show was longer, say, ten minutes long, it would be possible for viewers to really understand the basics of the campaign and become involved in the characters and the players. If that’s not the goal, and it’s just supposed to be about watching hot chicks roll dice to give men tingly feelings, then the Escapist should buy better lighting and cameras, since the dimly-lit basement of D&D old doesn’t do the girls justice. Either way, we’ll be there next week, and check back for another review.

Standout performance: Frankie, the only girl in the video to (presumably) not have a job in the adult industry. Actually, she’s a hair dresser, and looks like Velma’s hot sister.
