Rock Band 2 to Ship on December 22

The Year of Undelays Continues

by Coop

Last year, everything was delayed. It became a running joke when Grand Theft Auto IV, Haze, Killzone 2, The Force Unleashed, and LittleBigPlanet were bounced around like racquetballs, and all journalists had to do is copy and paste the same "Hopefully they take time to polish it" article, swap in some names and developers, and call it a day.

This year it's a different ball game. First it was announced that, despite all signs pointing to the contrary, Rise of the Argonauts and Home would make their December release dates, and now IGN is reporting that Rock Band 2 for the Wii will actually come out on December 22. That's right, the 22nd of this month. If it ships on the 22nd it won’t be in most stores until the 23rd, and that’s way too close to Christmas to be a true Holiday seller. Even Gamestop’s computers had bumped it to January, and they are usually correct with this sort of thing. To say that this came out of left field would be a huge understatment.

Although strange, it's good news for Wii owners. IGN’s preview reads optimistic and Harmonix has said before that the system's Rock Band 2 would be more similar to the 360 and PS3 versions than the original. We’ve contacted Harmonix for an official word. Be sure to check back soon for more details, if there are any.
