Rock Band Interview: You Ask the Questions
Harmonix Answeres Your Questions
by Coop
While Renegade Kid runs down the twentysome questions I sent them asked by Gamervision users we have another developer that has agreed to do the same. Harmonix, creators of Guitar Hero and soon to be the proud daddies (and mommies) of Rock Band will answer your questions. There is going to be a two day limit on this, so ask whatever you have by the end of Thursday so I can send it over.
Not that it is needed, but here are some videos of Rock Band in action. Rock Band comes out on November 20th on the PS3 and Xbox360.

Why so EXPENSIVE!!
rockband looks like an epelectic's worst nigth mare besides a dance club. So if your not prone to epileptic seizures and ahve $200 on hand, you'll have a blast.
Actually its $170, suavy.
What was the whole black Friday thing?
Just a general explanation about online play and making your own bands and what not.
How much will the downloadable content be?
Are they working on expansions for the game? or will it be only onlie content.
Where are your instruments made? how reliable are they?
What do they think about the direction that GH3 went in?
What do they think about the GH3 guitar that you have to put together?
are they planning any more instruments to be included and more importantly any other instrument based games?
Will they piss us all off and lower the bundle price in 6 months?
Will there be other downloadable content other then songs? aka new unlockables, characters, guitars, etc etc
Are there plans to add more instruments (keyboards, tambourine, fiddle, etc) in a later version?
any way to add new songs via xbox live?
how in depth are the vocals in the game in comparison to singstar and karaoke revolution, and are there different difficulties for the tone deaf players.
Any plans on bringing anything by Dethklok as DLC?
How hard is it to get these songs licensed - in this day and age you'd think bands would be all about having their tunes in this game genre - yet it seems like so many are "covered" rather than getting the real deal. What's up? Is it a money issue or do they just not get it?
Which platform is Rock Band's primary system? Which was it initially developed for - and along those lines was it more difficult on one or the other?
How durable are those drums, I've played and I know you don't need to smash em but with all those overzealous players out there I can't help but think we're going to see drum issues in the future.
Here's an obvious one - with Guitar Hero 3 coming out how are you guys feeling about Rock Band. Clearly you've got an obvious edge on the competition with drums/vocals but with brand recognition as strong as GH and a price point that's pretty up there (especially with just one guitar) - word on the street is Rock Band might not be a slam dunk at first. How are you planning to combat that?
I've heard that Rock Band will be compatible with Guitar Hero guitars - is this true? Is there a way to get around not having effects switches on the GH guitars?
C'mon guys - fess up - when can we expect that effects pedal :)
