Rumor: Germans Pull Historically Accurate Wolfenstein Off Shelves
What You Planning on Doing With That Uniform Once War is Over?
by Coop

During World War II, the German army used swastikas as their symbol. Remember this, because it's going to come up again later in this story.
According to 4players.de, Germany is pulling copies of Activision's Wolfenstein off the shelves. Their reasoning? It includes swastikas. No, they're not worried that this take on history has the German government secretly experimenting with ghosts, they're upset about how close to reality it actually is. Werewolves? That's fine. Zombies? Perfectly reasonable. Flags? Too. Freaking. Far.
Then again, for as dumb as it is, Activision should know better. It's a well known fact that the German government doesn't take kindly to people pointing out the little missteps they've taken in the past, and game developers know to tip-toe around the rules. The developers of Velvet Assasin told us, that when they weren't busy making a crappy stealth game, that they had to be sure to take all of them out, for fear of the game not being released in the country. Ignoring the rules is just asking for censorship. And war. Bloody war.
We've contacted the German government for a comment, so stay tuned.
UPDATE: They sent back poop porn. Germanyyyyyy!

And since the staff that developed the game at Raven has mostly been let go, chances are Germany won't be getting a localized version.
True, but Activision has the source files and it would be very easy to find and replace the flags.
cowards. seriously, it's been like fifty years.
