Rumor: Next Medal of Honor Lands in Afghanistan?

The Middle East is the New World War II

by Coop

A rumor posted earlier on CVG states that the next Medal of Honor game will take place during Operation Anaconda, the 2002 military offensive against Afghani forces in the mountains of Afghanistan. The actual game itself will feature a real-life story of a unit of soldiers whose helicopter crash left them stranded behind enemy lines. This seems to be taking a cue from both Call of Duty 4, by bumping it to the current(ish) day, and from Brothers in Arms, for choosing realism over fictional wars and stories. This should make for a better narrative, but the chance that a special interest group might take offense and begin protesting, you know, win/win.

The Medal of Honor series has sort of fizzled over the last few years, with the only mentionable additions being the Heroes spin-off on the Nintendo Wii. A revival of the series in a different setting might be just what the medic ordered in bringing the once great shooter back to medal-winning status.
