Screenwriter Stuart Beattie Wants to Make a Halo Movie
G.I. Joe and Pirates of the Caribbean Scribe Wants Chief

Peter Jackson's Halo movie might have come to a dead stop (and let out some passengers at District 9), but that doesn't mean the buzz has ceased. In a recent interview with SciFiWire, Stuart Beattie, writer of the upcoming G.I. Joe film and Pirates of the Caribbean, has expressed interest in writing a Halo script. In fact, he already wrote it, and sent a treatment to Microsoft.
"I just think it's an amazing story about this child that no one cares about and who cares for no one else, who kind of ends up saving all of humanity. So I just started calling, because I really believe a Halo movie would just be awesome, especially this Halo movie."
Beattle will soon be making his directorial debut, and hopes that the success of his upcoming films could help him attain the rights to take a swing at Halo. He's read the books and graphic novels, played the games, and feels like he'd be the best one to handle the film. Honestly, I can't say that he's wrong. In the past, screen writers and directors have treated games like a loose outline instead of source material, ignoring the aspects that make them popular.
"It's massive," he said. "It's like our generation's Star Wars. The whole Halo nation that's out there, and a 100,000-year history of the Halo universe, it's just breathtaking and so much fun to play in that sandbox."
You can read more from the interview here. So, what do you think? As long as they don't have too many overexcited grunts screaming about a "demon" and laughing like clowns I'll be good with it. I also hope that Beattie isn't the writer who handled Marlon Wayans lines in G.I. Joe. Yeesh, they look rough.

Well, with his pristine track record this can't possibly be a bad idea...
they might as well just make an animated movie since so much of a halo movie would be cgi anyway.
Can we just get the damn thing started already? I don't really care that much, but I've been hearing about a potential Halo movie for what seems like eons now.
