Shadow Complex Boycott Brewing?
Orson Scott Card's Influence Questioned
by Coop

Shadow Complex seems like a game that couldn't possibly be associated with controversy, right? Wrong. On the Neogaf forums a boycott is brewing, and Ender's Game author Orson Scott Card is to blame. Apparently, Complex is set in a world created by Card, and while his influence on the product is minimal, he's still attached to the title. Why is this an issue? Because, according to the boycott, Orson Scott Card is a "notorious homophobe."
Apparently that is grounds for boycotting a game. This movement misses some important points that should be brought up before anyone actually goes ahead and misses out on one of the best XBLA games of the year. Mainly, Card's influence isn't that significant. The game likely had upwards of a hundred people working on it from beginning to end, most of which are likely normal enough people. Damning them for daring to work on a game with Card's association is just wrong, no matter how much someone disagrees with what the author thinks.
The comments on the forum seem to be mostly taken over by people logically calling the original poster an idiot; something I'm happy to see. Again, it's not an issue as to whether or not Card is right, it's more about whether or not it's worth boycotting the game over it. It isn't. This is likely the last time we'll hear about this, but with the insane things that happen on the internet you never know. It's like the Wild West in there.

Whatever. I'm not boycotting it. I find this stupid.
Gay.
orson scott card's retarded. send him a letter that says what you think. don't boycott things he has virtually nothing to do with.
...and what exactly does him being a homophobe have to do with the game?
ppl have nothing else better to complain about.
I played it and loved it. Whatever!!!
