Silent Hill: Shattered Memories Trailer Heavy on Music

It's a Video With Music!

by Coop

The release of Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is rapidly approaching, and the series reboot looks like it has a chance to be one of the best games of December. This new trailer, however, really doesn't do it justice. I hope. It's a music video of sorts, with gameplay matching to a song that might be the dictionary definition of "the opposite of catchy." I suppose that would actually be an antonym, and would fit more in a thesaurus. Who cares? The point is, the song isn't very good, and no matter how awesome the game looks (and how many nice cameos from series' favorites show up), it's bogged down by the composition. It's still worth watching, though, because let's be honest: what else are you doing right now?

The song, for the three people wondering, is "When You're Gone," by Akira Yamaoka, the series' composer, who has recently left the company. Let's hope the song is better in the context of the game, because I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want my legacy resting on that tune. I mean, it's not that bad, but it's about as ill fitting in this trailer as "Dear Sister" is for... anything. The composer also worked on a cover of Elvis Presley's "You Were Always On My Mind" that many at Konami have told us is "haunting." That possibility alone has me excited, and I'm going to hope that it manages to make up for this, and work its way into my music library.
