Skate 2 Confirmed for PS3 and Xbox 360

EA has confirmed that Skate 2 is in development for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms, but has not commented on an actual release date or offered any additional information. The original outsold its competition 2:1 in the year it came out, so it is to no surprise that EA is pushing out a sequel as fast as they can while Activision scrambles to fix Tony Hawk in hopes of reclaiming its popularity. Skate 2 isn’t to be confused with Skate It, the Nintendo Wii title, as it will be a full sequel to the original Skate. The Wii version, detailed here, will feature use of the Nintendo Balance board.
Skate was a great game but did have its share of problems I wouldn’t mind seeing fixed in up in a sequel, like being able to step off of the skateboard to set up tricks and tightening the controls. While it doesn’t look like it will hit the 2008 holiday season, I would expect to see Skate 2 before this time in 2009.

Since we know what a terrible job that Activision turned the Tony Hawk series into, Another installment of skate is a breathe of fresh air. After I got my 360 Skate was the first game I bought, and being a skateboarder I can honestly say its the most realistic skateboarding game out there. So it'll be awesome to get a sequel out of it.
