The Dojo update for today has revealed that Nintendo plans on packing Virtual Console demos on the Super Smash Brothers Brawl disk.

Several memorable characters compete for brawl supremacy—that’s Super Smash Brothers Brawl in a nutshell.

But what about the past fights for each of those characters? What were they like?

It may sound impossible, but you can experience those battles in Brawl as well!

That’s right, for the first time ever, you can play trial versions of these games by the miracle of Virtual Console!

That’s what Masterpieces is! Here you can relive the greatest battles of the biggest star characters through demo versions of their games.

Super Mario Brothers, Ice Climbers, The Legend of Zelda, Kid Icarus, Kirby's Adventure and Star Fox 64 are the games they list. This marks the first time that Nintendo has given playable demos for Virtual Console games. That is, unless you count the NES in your basement as a playable demo.

What are your thoughts on this? I wouldn't mind seeing it as a trend, with little bits of Virtual Console games scattered across Nintendo games for the coming years. I'd like to play a little Mario Kart 64 when I pick up Mario Kart Wii, and I wouldn't mind trying out some of the original Kid Icarus when the inevitably make a sequel.

Or is this a trick to get you to download VC games? A sign that they aren't selling well?
