Sony's Motion Controller's Software Listed

What, No Lair 2?

by Coop

According to Sony, their Motion Controller, which is aptly named the "Motion Controller" (it rolls off the tongue, doesn't it?), is still set for a Spring 2010 release date. While I'm really doubting that launch window, especially with how little has been shown, they seem to be sticking to it. To prove their commitment to the ping pong ball at the end of a Buzz TV Quiz controller, Sony has given a list of software that will support the device. Beyond adding in more skeleton killing games than you know what to do with, they're also updating some old titles to work with the new device, meaning the sky is the limit for this... thing.

Software Titles for Motion Controller from SCE Worldwide Studios

  • Ape Escape (Working Title)
  • Echochrome 2 (Working Title)
  • Eccentric Slider (Working Title)
  • Sing and Draw (Working Title)
  • Champions of Time (Working Title)
  • Motion Party (Working Title)
  • The Shoot (Working Title)
  • Tower (Working Title)
  • PAIN*
  • Flower*
  • Hustle Kings*
  • High Velocity Bowling*
  • EyePet*

* Motion control function will be added by network update, etc

A new Ape Escape? That's pretty cool. Echochrome 2? That's... yeah. The next few sound like tech demos that might come bundled with the controller, and the only ones that really stand out beyond those are PAIN and Flower. Both are good games on their own, and only held back by what the Sixaxis couldn't do. Without those limitations, they're going to be even better.

So, anyone buying this thing? I'm skeptical, but hopeful, that it might end up being awesome. Just don't shove it in my God of War or I'll kick you in the head. In, you know, a journalistic kind of way.
