Sony Believes LittleBigPlanet Sales to Beat GT5: Prologue’s

At Least It Isn’t Delayed Again Today

by Coop

In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz Sony has stated that they believe LittleBigPlanet’s sales will be higher than many people expect. "We're hoping sales will be higher than GT5 Prologue," revealed David Reeves, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.  This comes in the wake of Sony’s PlayStation Day, an event held every year which allows Sony to show cool footage of a bunch of highly anticipated video games, and then systematically announce delays for them all. LittleBigPlanet was pushed back to October, but it still looks as fun as ever.

This is also a very safe comment for Sony to make, as GT5: Prologue sales have likely already peaked with the full game coming out next year (supposedly). GT5: Prologue bumped up PlayStation 3 sales by 14% after its release last month, as fans apparently had no problem spending $40 on a buffed up demo. LittleBigPlanet, on the other hand, is a full release, and should naturally sell better. Hopefully the game will be released before Sock Puppets actually take over the world and begin making their own platforming levels, but as of now the race is neck and neck.
