Sony to Co-Publish PS Ghostbusters in Europe, PAL Regions
UPDATED: Timed Exclusivity Confirmed
by Coop

At a press conference early this morning, Sony has announced that it will be co-publishing the PlayStation versions of Ghostbusters: The Video Game in European and PAL regions. All PlayStation versions will launch alongside the Ghostbusters 25th anniversary on June 19th 2009, several months before the Xbox 360 and Wii editions see release. It has also been revealed that a PlayStation Portable version of the game is currently in development and will launch a little later in the year.
This is an extremely surprising announcement, and should be considered a decisive blow against Microsoft and Nintendo. While it likely doesn't effect the US release of the game (UPDATED: It doesn't.), it's shocking that Sony would wait this long to make any sort of grab at the property. For some time, Ghostbusters was actually without a publisher, wandering around the wastes, waiting for someone to throw down some money to get the game on store shelves. Why Sony waited until two months before the release to make any sort of a move is beyond me, but it's still great news for Sony fans abroad.

IN EUROPE AND PAL REGIONS? Does this mean that the stateside release will still be on all consoles?
@shagino: I believe that the US release should be unaffected, as of right now anyway.
Coop, you're right... if Sony had done this immediately after Activision dumped the game, it would have been a huge worldwide exclusive for them. Why would they wait until now to do something about it?
The question now is how many platforms am I going to end up buying this for?
i heard that Atari was having problems being able to publish it in Europe and that is why Sony stepped in. Though Sony should have done this right away and made this an exclusive worldwide.
