If you're a PSP owner, odds are you have your eyes on one of the best looking handheld games of 2009: the port of LittleBigPlanet (which we enjoyed quite a bit). If you were looking to download it from the PlayStation Store, however, you were likely left scratching your head, wondering where Sony's big dog for the holiday season was hiding. It wasn't, it just wasn't there. Needless to say, people were a bit upset.

Now, Sony has finally made an official statement on the whereabouts of LittleBigPlanet for the PlayStation Store, promising that they are working on the issue. In a blog post while talking about the game's release on UMD, Senior Producer Mark Green commented on why we aren't able to get it on the store just yet.

The process, however, has not been without its share of hiccups. We are aware that the game is not yet available on the PlayStation Store, but we’re currently working around the clock to get this issue worked out so keep your eyes peeled for updates this week. We appreciate you bearing with us!

While it's not as good as saying "It's fixed! Go download it! We also made it free! And added multiplayer!", it's better than ignoring the issue altogehter. No one thought the shift from retail to digital would be easy, so bumps in the road like this should be expected. Hell, no one's even talking about the fact that Steam is hardly usable after Left 4 Dead 2's release, and that's arguably a much bigger issue. Either way, we'll keep you posted on where this news takes us, and will be sure to inform you when the game makes its triumphant return.
