Soul Calibur IV Playable at CES

We Weren't Invited

by Coop

Kotaku got a special invitation to see a playable form of Soul Calibur IV at the Consumer Electronic Show in Vegas this next year. We did not get that invitation, so we wouldn't know. Hey! Namco Bandai! Spread some love over here! The invite also reveals that they will, well, reveal a new character at the event.

Namco Bandai sent out word last night that they will be in full force at this year's Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas to show off Soul Calibur IV. The invite-only event promises to allow attendees to be the firs[sic] to play the gam[sic] and " be a part of a special unveiling."

The fact that the invite includes a silhouetted character with a big-honking question mark in place of a face leads me to believe that the unveiling will be a new character. Fortunately we only have to wait until Jan. 8 to find out.

I am interested in why they would hide a new character unless it was something special. I personally think it looks like Magneto from X-Men. The helmet shape, the cape, maybe they will be bringing Marvel characters into Soul Calibur IV! let the speculations begin.

Maybe this means they are bringing back console specific characters. When Soul Calibur II came out the Gamecube version sold big for letting players fight as Link. The PS2 version rocked an old guy from Tekken and Xbox had Spawn for some reason. I’d love to see this brought to the new generation - and it would explain why they used a generic and hidden person for the “mystery character.”

Wow. Ivy's breast are even more ginormous than in SCIII!

Oh, and I think the secret character looks like it could be Zazalamel. I hope it isn't. Not only because he has the lamest name ever in a fighting game, but mostly because I would dearly love to see Magneto kick some ass.
